KSF co-founded the Middle East Theatre Academy (META) to enable the discovery of emerging talent across the MENA region. A two-week version of Home Grown was its inaugural project.
Applications were taken from across the Middle East with the final company coming from 11 countries in total including Syria and Egypt. A company of 35 were selected and flown to Sharjah near Dubai where they spent the next two weeks training and rehearsing a specially written play called Dhow Under The Sun.
The play was performed over three days at the Theatrical Arts in the Sharjah Heritage Area, a 300-seat venue patronized by the H.H. Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi.
