KSF Artists of Choice 2016: Canada Dance Selection Panel

Today we were interviewing shortlisted applicants for KSF Artists of Choice: Canada Dance Category. Below you can read about the high level industry professionals who worked with us on the selection panel to uncover some of the best new talent working in the Canadian Dance industry today.

Navid Charkhi is one of the outstanding choreographer/ Teachers at Harbour Dance Centre. He also won silver-place medal for the MegaCrew category at the World Hip Hop Competition in Las Vegas. Credits include 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Opening Ceremony, Project Soul, KTL Company, We Day Vancouver, Nickelodeon’s Jinxed, various Music Videos, Kenny Ortega’s Descendants (Disney) and assistant choreographer on Mostly Ghostly 3.

Emily Molnar is a principal dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director of Ballet BC. She was named The Globe and Mail’s 2013 “Dance Artist of the Year”. Molnar is a recipient of the 2015 BC Community Achievement Award and the 2015 YWCA Women of Distinction Award. Molnar currently serves as a Director on the Board of the BC Arts Council and has recently been appointed sessional Artistic Director of Dance at The Banff Centre.

Melissa Panton is a talent agent for the Vancouver chapter of da Costa Talent Management representing actors, singers, dancers and choreographers in film, television, theatre and stage. As a professional dancer and choreographer for over 15 years, she worked in feature films, television and commercials, and as a dance educator and adjudicator with numerous Canadian companies. Melissa has a diploma in Arts Administration from Humber College in Toronto.

KSF Artists of Choice is a pioneering funding and mentoring initiative for UK, US and Canada based emerging artists working in theatre, musical theatre, dance or film. Epitomizing KSF’s aim of ‘sending the elevator back down’ it will provide funding, year-round support and mentoring by industry heavyweights.
