KSF Artists of Choice 2016: UK Film Selection Panel

Today we were interviewing shortlisted applicants for KSF Artists of Choice: UK Film Category. Below you can read about the high level industry professionals who worked with us on the selection panel to uncover some of the best new talent working in the UK Film industry today.

Hayley Atwell is an actress known for her role as Peggy Carter in Ant Man, The Avengers: Age of Ultron; Captain America- The Winter Soldier; Captain America- The First Avenger and two seasons of ABC and Marvels Agent Carter. She has been nominated for a British Independent Film Award for her work in The Duchess, a Golden Globe for Pillars of the Earth and an Olivier Award for The Pride (Trafalgar Studios).

Rhianna Dhillon was the film critic for Radio 1 for five years, and now works regularly for BAFTA, the BFI and BBC Radio 4’s Front Row. She is currently a film and TV critic on ITV’s Weekend show.

Lee Mason is a Drama Commissioning Executive at Channel 4. He previously worked as Script Editor at Tiger Aspect, as Head of Development at Shed Media, who are best known for Waterloo Road and Footballers’ Wives, and as Development Executive at Keshet International, producers of Homeland. Most recently Lee was Commissioning Editor of Hollyoaks for Channel 4.

Vinay Patel is a screenwriter whose debut television drama Murdered by My Father was aired on the BBC in 2016. He was selected for the Kudos/Bush Initiative 2014, Channel 4 4Screenwriting 2015 and has written an Original Drama Short for BBC. He is currently developing projects for ITV1, the BBC and the BFI.

Barnaby Spurrier is a producer across film and television. He served as executive producer on Nicholas Barker’s Unmade Beds (Best Film 1997 Stockholm Film Festival) and produced Somers Town, which won the Michael Powell Award at the 2008 Edinburgh International Film Festival. Barnaby also produces TV commercials and documentaries, including a series for BBC2 presented by Boris Johnson on early Christianity and Islam. Barnaby is currently producing an animated feature based on the novel Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpugo.

KSF Artists of Choice is a pioneering funding and mentoring initiative for UK, US and Canada based emerging artists working in theatre, musical theatre, dance or film. Epitomizing KSF’s aim of ‘sending the elevator back down’ it will provide funding, year-round support and mentoring by industry heavyweights.
