KSF Artists of Choice 2016: US Film Selection Panel

Today we were interviewing shortlisted applicants for KSF Artists of Choice: US Film Category. Below you can read about the high level industry professionals who worked with us on the selection panel to uncover some of the best new talent working in the US film industry today.

Brian Dennehy is a Golden Globe and Tony award-winning actor of film, television and stage. Credits include: First Blood, The Belly of an Architect, Romeo + Juliet, Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, She Hate Me and Assault on Precinct 13. Theatre credits include: Death of a Salesman (Best Actor Tony Award), A Touch of the Poet, Long Day’s Journey into Night (Tony Award in 2003) and The Iceman Cometh.

Edie Falco is the only actress ever to receive the Emmy Award, the Golden Globe Award and the SAG Award all in the same year for the same performance, recognised for her work as Carmela Soprano in The Sopranos. TV credits include her Emmy Award Winning lead role in Nurse Jackie and recurring roles in Oz, and the acclaimed NBC series Law & Order and Homicide. Falco made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award winning play Sideman.

Rupert Friend is a writer, director and actor. He was Emmy-nominated for his work on Homeland, and he has twice been nominated for a BIFA award for films such as The Young Victoria, Starred Up and The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. His writer/director debut, Steve starring Colin Firth, won him the Crystal Vision Award at the Rhode Island Film Festival.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is an actress and singer who has worked in NY both on and off Broadway. Film credits include: Scarface and The Color of Money, (Academy Award nomination), The Abyss, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Limbo and The Perfect Storm. Television credits include roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Limitless.

Pat O’Connor is a BAFTA award winning Irish film director. He is known for directing William Trevor’s, Ballroom of Romance, One of Ourselves, starring Cyril Cusack for the BBC. Other film credits include Fools of Fortune and The January Man, Circle of Friends and Dancing at Lughnasa.

Susan Seidelman film director, writer and producer. Notable film credits include: Desperately Seeking Susan starring Madonna in her first film role, She-Devil with Meryl Streep, Making Mr Right featuring John Malkovich and Smithereens. She also works in television and is known for directing the pilot of Sex and the City (HBO). Most recently, Susan directed The Hot Flashes starring Brooke Shields and Daryl Hannah.

KSF Artists of Choice is a pioneering funding and mentoring initiative for UK, US and Canada based emerging artists working in theatre, musical theatre, dance or film. Epitomizing KSF’s aim of ‘sending the elevator back down’ it will provide funding, year-round support and mentoring by industry heavyweights.
