A Solo For Two

About This Project

Kira Alker, Choreographer and dancer

About: A Solo for Two is a new dance installation. The piece will explore functional repetitive movements, drawn from the basics of work movement across the spectrum to psychologically-driven compulsive actions. This forms part of Kira Alker’s artistic research into challenging and displacing traditional contemporary dance vocabularies in an effort to open up more radical notions of the body, bodily worth and beauty. In this piece, Kira will be working with her long-time collaborator, the Belgian dancer and performance artist Elke Luyten.

Outcomes: The grant winner and her associate have been invited back to the Raketenstation Hombroich in August 2015 where they will be a part of the Summer Fellowship Program, curated by Ursula Achternkamp. During this program, they will present “A Solo for Two” onsite as part of the fellowship open house event.

“The opportunity for such exposure, exchange and experience is invaluable. Thank you to all at the foundation for their generous support.”
