Beyond Caring

About This Project

Alexander Zeldin, Writer and Director

About: Beyond Caring had a three week run at the Yard Theatre in London. Beyond Caring tells the story of a group of temporary work cleaners in a warehouse on the outskirts of London. It highlights the situation regarding low paid temporary work, exploring the emotional and practical effects of this growing feature of our society.
Beyond Caring was created through immersion in the affected communities by the company of actors, interrogating the treatment of those on the fringes of society, and then written through a devising process by Alexander Zeldin.

Outcomes: Beyond Caring was seen by Nicholas Hytner who encouraged a transfer to the National Theatre Temporary Space for a run at the beginning of April 2015. Alongside this confirmed transfer the company are exploring opportunities to tour the play regionally and in Europe. Beyond Caring has also been nominated for 5 Off West End Theatre Awards including Best New Play, Most Promising New Playwright, Best Director and Best Ensemble. Having collaborated so successfully with The Yard Theatre on Beyond Caring, Alexander Zeldin is now an Artistic Associate at the building and is developing his second in-house production LOVE [working title] for a run in Autumn 2015.

“The generous support of the KSF meant the play could be developed to its full potential, and as a result received fantastic reviews, and will go on to have a future life.”
