Ephrat Asherie Dance

About This Project

Ephrat Asherie Dance (EAD) uses the inherent narrative qualities of street and club dances to tell the universal stories of a shared human experience.

The company was founded in 2012 by Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie, a choreographer, dancer and bgirl based in New York City. The company has presented work at the Apollo Theater, Jacob’s Pillow, New York Live Arts, Summerstage, and the Yard, among others, and has received numerous awards to support its work including an Extended Life Program commission from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, a Mondo Cane! commission from Dixon Place and two residencies for the creation of new work through the CUNY Dance Initiative.

“We are extremely grateful and honored to receive this support from the Kevin Spacey Foundation. This award will allow us not only to keep developing our newest work, Riff this, Riff that, but will also give us the opportunity to tour it in Europe, exposing our work to a whole new viewership, simultaneously expanding our own horizons as well as that of our audiences.”
