Looking at You is a 75-minute techno-noir music theater work mixing electronic dance music, crime jazz, and lyric operatic arias. Equal parts Edward Snowden and Casablanca, Looking at You explores the impact of modern technology on privacy, using data from audience members in the show. When genius coder Dorothy discovers that her former lover has become the world’s most famous whistleblower, will she turn him in to the authorities, or help him to escape?
Praised as “strikingly original” (NY Times), composer Kamala Sankaram’s accolades include a 2013 Jonathan Larson Award and the NY Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Musical for her show Miranda. Her opera, Thumbprint (NPR, Agence France Presse) will next be produced during the 2016/17 season at LA Opera.

“I believe that musical storytelling introduces new ways of seeing the world. This is the most complex show I’ve ever attempted. I’m so grateful to KSF, not only for the monetary support, but also for the vote of confidence in the project. Thank you!”
