Little Ones

About This Project

Joanna Coates, Filmmaker

About: Little Ones is a short documentary film, it tells the story of a transformative trip undertaken by two young mothers and their children. Both trained as artists, but have ended up devoting their 20s to having children. Now they are retreating to rural Wales: ostensibly to plan and perform a shadow puppet show, they will also use this retreat to face facts and make hard decisions regarding their futures.

Outcomes: Little Ones had its public world premiere, following a positive private screening at the British Film Institute, at Underwire Film Festival where it was nominated for a Best Producer award.

“Getting support to create this work was invaluable - the film is currently playing at festivals worldwide and has provided me with a great piece of work to show future funders.”
