About: The Wardrobe Ensemble went to America in summer 2014 to start developing 2 new shows on a residency at the Berkshire Fringe Festival and at Jack in New York. One will be a Christmas show for the Bike Shed Theatre and the other is an entirely unknown entity. It might be based around a research and interview project on sex and intimacy in the 70s and now but it might also be about a fax machine that allows you to time travel 20 minutes into the past or future. Maybe it’s about both. It will definitely involve live music, movement sequences and inventive, irreverent stagecraft.
Outcomes: The development time the company spent in New York was crucial to their latest project. The workshop days allowed them to decide that the next show we want to make is about sex in the 1970s. The company have since workshopped the new show concept and are in talks with Shoreditch Town Hall to commission the piece with the hopes of touring to Edinburgh and then America in 2016.

“The grant allowed us to rent a really exciting space in New York which was an excellent showcase for the company’s work in America.”
