Helen Goalen and Abbi Greenland of RashDash
About: We Want You To Watch is a radical show about the effects of violent pornography. It’s about its impact on consumers - those who seek it and those who don’t. It’s about how pornography invades relationships and families, about how it affects how we think, and alters the sex that we have. This show is about the ubiquity of hardcore pornography and how it sexualises the degradation and abuse of women’s bodies. It is furious because we are furious. Rash Dash worked with director, Ellen Mcdougall to develop this project over a two-week period.
Outcomes: Following a successful research and development period, Rash Dash has secured a co-production with the National Theatre and will perform We Want You To Watch in the Shed pace in 2015. This is a hugely positive step for the company and it is hoped the production will then tour to northern venues in the autumn.
“The project indicates a gear-change for RashDash in terms of working with co-producing partners and working on the mid-scale.”
